Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response attempts to address the task by describing the changes in the library floor plan. However, the information is presented in a fragmented manner, making it difficult to follow the spatial changes. While some key features are mentioned, such as the removal of tables and the addition of a cafe and computer room, the description lacks clarity and precision. The overview is weak and does not effectively highlight the most significant trends or transformations. Several details are confusingly phrased, such as 'adult fliction books shift right side', which obscures the actual layout changes. To improve, focus on grouping related changes logically and using precise directional language to describe the movement or replacement of facilities.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical progression is hindered by poor sentence structure and confusing transitions. While cohesive devices like 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'In addition' are used, they are often applied mechanically and do not always connect ideas effectively. The referencing is frequently unclear, particularly when describing the location of new facilities. For example, the phrase 'at the place of enquiry desk like tickets, book returns, etc build a Cafe' is grammatically disjointed, making the relationship between the old and new features hard to track. Improving the flow between sentences and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus would significantly enhance the coherence of the response.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and contains several errors that impede clarity. There is a frequent misuse of terminology, such as 'adult fliction' (likely meaning 'fiction') and 'medal of the hall' (likely meaning 'middle'). The repetition of basic verbs like 'change', 'add', and 'replace' limits the range of expression. Furthermore, the phrasing is often unnatural, such as 'now make a computer room'. To reach a higher band, you should focus on using more precise vocabulary related to describing diagrams, such as 'relocated', 'converted', 'replaced by', or 'transformed', and ensure that spelling is accurate, especially for key terms related to the library layout.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that often make the meaning difficult to interpret. There are consistent issues with verb tense (e.g., '20 year ago... how it look'), subject-verb agreement, and sentence construction. Many sentences are fragments or lack necessary articles and prepositions, such as 'the main change in tables and chairs'. The use of complex structures is attempted but is largely unsuccessful due to these persistent errors. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence patterns, ensuring correct tense usage when comparing past and present, and proofreading for missing articles and prepositions. Reducing the number of errors is essential to ensure that your message is communicated clearly.
