Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the task by describing the changes in the library floor plan. However, the reporting of information is somewhat disorganized and lacks a clear, analytical focus. While you mention the addition of a cafe and sofa, the comparison between the two time periods is not fully developed. The description of the layout is confusing, and some details are inaccurate or poorly integrated, such as the mention of a 'lecture room' which is not clearly defined in the context of the library's evolution. To improve, ensure you clearly group features (e.g., areas that remained the same vs. areas that were relocated or added) to provide a more logical summary of the main features.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the flow of ideas is often disjointed. The use of cohesive devices is mechanical and sometimes inappropriate, such as 'To begins with' and 'Following that', which are used repetitively. The referencing is occasionally unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the spatial changes in the library. Paragraphing is present, but the internal structure of the paragraphs lacks logical progression. To achieve a higher score, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus that connects logically to the next.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, relying on basic terms like 'changes', 'additions', and 'available'. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice errors, such as 'there were present of lecture room' and 'there are numerous reform that have been made'. These errors occasionally impede the clarity of the description. To improve, try to use more precise vocabulary related to describing diagrams and spatial changes, such as 'relocated', 'transformed', 'expanded', or 'replaced'. Expanding your range of collocations will help you express your ideas more naturally and accurately.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'there were present of lecture room') and article usage. Sentence structures are generally simple, and attempts at more complex sentences often result in errors that affect readability. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after commas and periods. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like pluralization and verb tense consistency. Practicing the use of complex structures, such as relative clauses or passive voice, will also help demonstrate a wider grammatical range.
