Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response successfully identifies the main features of the library floor plan changes. You have provided a clear overview and highlighted key transformations, such as the addition of the information desk and the removal of central seating. However, the report could be improved by ensuring all changes are accurately attributed to their specific locations. For instance, the description of the 'adult's fiction' area is slightly confusing, and the mention of a 'cafe' appears in the final paragraph without being clearly linked to the visual evidence. To reach a higher band, ensure that every detail mentioned is clearly supported by the provided diagram.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, with a clear introduction, overview, and body paragraphs. You use cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Moreover', and 'Furthermore' to guide the reader through the changes. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the sudden mention of a 'cafe' in the final paragraph. Improving the flow between sentences and ensuring that each paragraph has a distinct thematic focus would enhance the overall coherence of the response.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'redevelopment', 'repurposed', and 'phased out' appropriately. There are some minor errors in word formation and spelling, such as 'on-fiction' instead of 'non-fiction' and 'adult's' used incorrectly as a possessive in some contexts. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning, incorporating more precise collocations related to spatial changes—such as 'transformed into', 'converted to', or 'superseded by'—would elevate the lexical quality of your writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical inaccuracies, particularly with articles ('the area underwent substantial redevelopment') and possessive apostrophes ('adult's on-fiction'). Additionally, some phrasing is slightly awkward, such as 'alongside with'. To improve, focus on consistent article usage and refining your control over complex sentence structures. Despite these errors, the grammar does not impede communication, and the majority of your sentences are understandable.
