Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

You have successfully identified the main features of the library's transformation, such as the addition of the cafe, computer room, and lecture room. You also made relevant comparisons between the two time periods. However, the response is hampered by significant clarity issues. While you covered the main changes, the description of the layout is sometimes confusing, particularly when describing the relocation of books and desks. To improve, ensure that your overview clearly highlights the most significant trends rather than just listing changes. The current overview is somewhat disjointed, making it difficult for the reader to grasp the overall transformation quickly.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The response lacks effective paragraphing, as it is presented as a single block of text. This makes it difficult to follow the progression of ideas. While you attempt to use some cohesive devices like 'in contrast' and 'while', the overall structure is weak. The flow of information is often interrupted by awkward phrasing and a lack of clear transition between the different areas of the library. To reach a higher band, you should organize your response into distinct paragraphs: an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs focusing on specific areas of the library.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

Your vocabulary is quite limited and contains numerous spelling errors that occasionally impede communication, such as 'moderanised', 'vidioes', 'compurt', 'ferniture', and 'fictin'. You rely on basic vocabulary and struggle with accurate collocations. For example, 'enquiry disk was replace to cafe' is grammatically and lexically awkward. To improve, you need to focus on accurate spelling and using more precise terminology for describing spatial changes, such as 'relocated', 'transformed', 'replaced by', or 'converted into'. Expanding your range of descriptive verbs will help you convey the changes more effectively.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that affect the readability of the text. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'The maps... illustrates'), incorrect verb tenses, and missing articles. Sentence structures are often repetitive and contain errors in word order, such as 'the old cds, vidioes, compurt games was converted storytelling events'. Punctuation is also problematic, with many run-on sentences and incorrect comma usage. To improve, you should practice basic sentence construction, ensuring that subjects and verbs agree and that you use appropriate prepositions when describing locations.
