Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response successfully identifies the main features of the library's transformation. You have clearly contrasted the past and present layouts, noting key changes such as the conversion of the reading room into a computer room and the addition of a cafe. However, the overview is slightly weak; while it mentions the addition of facilities, it could be more specific about the nature of the structural changes. The description of the layout is generally accurate, though some details, such as the specific locations of the new self-service machines, could be more precisely integrated to improve the clarity of the comparison.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, with a clear introduction, overview, and body paragraphs detailing the past and present states. You use some cohesive devices like 'Furthermore', 'Moreover', and 'Ultimately' to link ideas. However, the flow is occasionally interrupted by mechanical phrasing, such as 'followed by the adult non-fiction books access is transformed into...', which makes the progression feel slightly disjointed. Improving the variety of linking phrases and ensuring that transitions between sentences are smoother would enhance the overall coherence of the report.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'converted', 'transformed', 'substitute', and 'remained unchanged'. There are some minor issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'ample of facilities' (should be 'ample facilities') and 'storage room is subsitute into' (should be 'substituted with' or 'converted into'). While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the meaning, it lacks the precision and sophistication required for a higher band. Focusing on more natural collocations and avoiding repetitive phrasing will help improve this score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, particularly with verb tenses and subject-verb agreement, such as 'it clearly seem that' (should be 'seems'), 'tables and chairs at middle of it was removed' (should be 'were'), and 'Adult fiction books is replaced' (should be 'are'). While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. You should pay closer attention to pluralization and consistent tense usage when describing past versus present states.
