Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response provides a clear overview of the changes, identifying the main trends such as the diversification of facilities and the removal of the central seating area. You successfully highlighted key transformations, such as the replacement of the enquiry desk with a cafe and the expansion of the computer games room. However, the report could be improved by providing more precise spatial descriptions; for instance, mentioning the specific relocation of the children's section or the exact positioning of the new information desk would provide a more comprehensive summary. The response covers all parts of the task well, but the level of detail is slightly uneven in places.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized into an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression of changes. You make effective use of cohesive devices such as 'To start with', 'Moreover', and 'Furthermore' to transition between ideas. However, some of the referencing is slightly mechanical, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. For example, the transition between the removal of the central seating and the addition of self-service machines could be more integrated. Overall, the paragraphing is appropriate and the information is presented in a clear, sequential manner.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'diversified', 'facilities', and 'storytelling events' appropriately. There are some minor issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'floor map' (should be 'floor plan') and 'establishing an information desk' (which is slightly awkward). While you attempt to use some less common vocabulary, the range is somewhat limited, and there is a reliance on simpler descriptive language. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise verbs and nouns related to architectural changes, such as 'converted', 'relocated', or 'partitioned'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical inaccuracies, such as 'library had two sets of table and chairs' (missing articles: 'a library', 'tables') and 'how it is now and how it looked like' (the 'like' is redundant here). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are some run-on sentences and minor errors in verb tense consistency. The majority of your sentences are understandable, but the frequency of these small errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band score.
