Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response attempts to summarize the changes in the library floor plan, but it fails to provide a clear or accurate overview of the main features. The description of the changes is fragmented and often confusing, making it difficult for the reader to visualize the transformation. For example, phrases like 'CDs, videos. and computer games converted into storytelling events' lack clarity regarding the spatial layout. The report lacks a logical structure, and the information is presented in a disjointed manner, which prevents a full development of the task requirements. To improve, you should group information logically, such as by area or by the nature of the changes, rather than listing items in a scattered way.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay lacks a logical flow. While there is an attempt at paragraphing, the transitions between ideas are mechanical and often misused, such as 'by having a cursory glance' and 'moving toward further information'. The referencing is frequently unclear; for instance, it is difficult to follow which areas are being compared when you mention 'reading room north-west in computer room'. The lack of cohesive devices to link sentences effectively makes the text feel like a series of disconnected observations rather than a cohesive report. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring clear subject-verb agreement would significantly enhance the readability of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. You rely on basic terms and struggle with accurate collocations, such as 'manufactured lecture room' instead of 'a lecture room was built'. There are also issues with word choice, such as 'it is remove' (should be 'removed') and 'in now' (should be 'now'). The range of vocabulary is insufficient to describe the spatial changes precisely. To reach a higher band, focus on using more descriptive verbs and nouns related to maps and floor plans, such as 'relocated', 'replaced', 'transformed', or 'extended', and ensure you use them in the correct grammatical context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that often impede communication. There are significant issues with sentence structure, such as 'CDs, videos. and computer games converted into storytelling events and Children fiction books and two sofa also.' This is a run-on sentence with incorrect punctuation. Additionally, there are consistent errors in verb tense and subject-verb agreement, such as 'it is remove' and 'maps charts depict'. The use of complex structures is attempted but is largely unsuccessful due to these persistent errors. You need to focus on basic sentence construction, ensuring each sentence has a clear subject and verb, and proofread for punctuation errors.
