The diagram below shows the floor plan of a public library 20 years ago and how it looks now.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The diagrams given, represents the floor plan of Central library 20 years ago versus the floor plan of the Central library today.

The central library's current plan includes cafe in the right side of the enterance. Whereas, the central library constucted 20 years ago has Enquiry desk at the right side of the enterance. Enquiry desk includes services such as tickets, book returns, etc. In the current library, the enquiry desk is replaced by technology in the form of self-service machines which is located in the right side hallway from the enterace after the cafe. There is also an information desk and adult fiction books in that area. The previous floor plan consisted of only adult non-fiction books in the same place as the current library. While, the adult fiction books is on the left hallway, between the first room and the last room. At the end of the right side of the library there is lecture room in the current library. Whereas, in the prevous library there was children's books room. At the same time, in today's library the children's fiction books room is the last room on the left side of the library. It has a sofa and there are many storytelling events conducted as nowadays they are popular among children. 20 years ago, CDS, videos and computer games were introduced into the market and people were fond of them. So, the library consisted a room which provided CDs, videos and computer games located at the end of the library on the left side. Previously, the first room on the left was a reading room with the access of newspapers and magazines. On the other hand, current library floor plan has a computer room at the same place.
