Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

The response addresses the task only partially and falls slightly below the required word count, coming in at 145 words. While the writer attempts to summarize the main changes between the library twenty years ago and today, the description is disorganized and contains several spatial inaccuracies based on the visual data. For instance, the student misplaces several key features, confusing the positions of the lecture room, children's storytelling area, and reference book sections. There is an overview attempted at the end, but the limited and partially inaccurate reporting of features prevents a more fully developed response.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

There is some basic organization with an introductory statement, body details, and a concluding remark, but overall progression lacks clarity and logical flow. Cohesive devices such as 'TO COMMENCE WITH', 'EARLIER', and 'IN THE NUTSHELL' are used mechanically and often inappropriately. Paragraphing is also somewhat erratic, with the main body split awkwardly. Referencing between old and new locations is frequently confusing, making it difficult for the reader to follow the spatial changes smoothly across the two time periods.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary range is limited and minimally adequate for the task. The student attempts some less common vocabulary items like 'ILUSTRATES', 'GORGEOUS', and 'GENRATION', but these are accompanied by noticeable spelling errors ('COLLUMM', 'STORRYTELLING', 'REFENCE', 'NESECCETITIES', 'ACOORDING', 'GENRATION') and occasional awkward word choices. While communication is generally maintained despite the lexical lapses, the recurring spelling and word-form inaccuracies restrict the vocabulary score to a lower band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writing demonstrates a very limited range of sentence structures, relying heavily on basic patterns with frequent errors. There are notable issues with verb tenses, passive voice construction, and missing articles, such as 'THE ENTRANCE THAT REMAINS UNCHANGED HOWEVER THE SITTING ARE FROM CENTRE IS REMOVED' and 'WHICH IS BEEN REPLACED'. Punctuation is also weak, with excessive capitalization and run-on phrasing. These frequent grammatical errors cause some difficulty for the reader and reflect a lack of control over complex sentence forms.
