Student answer (Band 6.0)
The given figures illustrate the floor plan of social library 20 years back and how it appears now.
Overall, the antiquated floor of library has converted into contemporary and more technical one by increasing the indispensable machines and by expanding the sitting area. The most significant change is the renewal of central area of library and addition of cafe in library, offering several amenities and facilities to the users.
20 years ago, the public library has its entrance on south and central area of library was accomodated mostly by the tables and chairs. The enquiry desk was situated on the right corner room, adjacent to entrance and the reading room was on the left of the entrance. Moreover, computer games and children's books room reespectively was located at the bottom of the floor.
Currently, The entrance remains same at the south.Whereas, reading room is occupied by the computer room and enquiry room is replaced by the cafe after renovation. The previous computeer room is converted into story telling area and self-service machines are also introduced to the participants in library which are placed near the information desk.
In conclusion, the library is transisted into more technical and user-friendly as compared to previous structure.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify the broad transformation from a traditional library layout to one with more technology and new facilities, and you include several relevant changes: the reading room becomes a computer room, the enquiry area becomes a café, and self-service machines are added. However, some key locations are misreported. The children’s books room was at the top right, not “at the bottom,” and the former computer-games room is not converted into the storytelling area; that top-left room becomes children’s fiction and storytelling, while the new computer room occupies the bottom left. The overview also says the sitting area expanded, although the central tables and chairs were removed. More precise coverage of the book-section changes and the new lecture room would make the comparison more complete and clear.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, descriptions of the earlier and current plans, and a concluding statement. This gives the reader a coherent overall route through the comparison. The use of “20 years ago” and “Currently” also helps signal the time contrast. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. “Whereas” begins a sentence without a complete contrasting clause, and “Moreover” introduces a location detail that is difficult to follow because the rooms are described as being at the bottom. The conclusion repeats the overview rather than adding a useful comparison. Organise each plan by consistent areas—such as left, centre and right—and use clear links to show what changed in each location.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You attempt a range of vocabulary suited to describing change, including “converted,” “renewal,” “introduced” and “amenities.” These choices show an effort to move beyond basic wording. However, several expressions are inaccurate or unnatural for this task: “social library,” “antiquated floor,” “indispensable machines” and “participants in library” do not convey the intended meaning precisely. There are also spelling errors, including “accomodated,” “reespectively,” “computeer” and “transisted.” Such slips reduce the accuracy and naturalness of the description, even though the main message is generally understandable. Prefer straightforward, precise terms for facilities and locations, and check spelling and collocations during revision.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use both simple statements and more complex forms, including “by increasing…” and the contrast introduced with “Whereas,” so there is some variety in sentence construction. The main comparisons can usually be understood, but some grammatical errors remain. For example, “the public library has its entrance” uses an unsuitable tense for the past plan, and “computer games and children's books room … was located” has a number-agreement problem. The sentence beginning “Whereas, reading room…” is incomplete as written, and articles are missing in phrases such as “in library.” Punctuation and spacing also need attention, particularly around sentence boundaries. Use past tense consistently for the earlier plan and check that each contrast forms a complete sentence.
