Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the broad purpose of the plans and mention several genuine changes, including the new lecture room, storytelling area, café and self-service machines. However, the account is only partly complete: it does not clearly compare the two layouts feature by feature, and several important changes are omitted, such as the former adult non-fiction area becoming adult fiction, the reference books moving to the left, and the enquiry desk being replaced by an information desk and machines. Some details are inaccurate or unclear: the old plan’s tables and chairs were in the central area, not part of a room for children’s and adult fiction, and the café is at the bottom right rather than “located in the entrance.” A clearer overview and more precise comparisons would strengthen the report.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, a description of the earlier plan, a paragraph about the current plan, and a concluding overview. This gives the reader a basic route through the information. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow, particularly in “Second room build for childern's books, adult fiction books and has two tables and chairs in the middle,” where the locations and relationships between features are unclear. Linking phrases such as “On the other hand” and “Furthermore” are used, but the sequence of details is not consistently organised by location or by change. Grouping corresponding areas from the two plans and using clearer references would make the comparisons easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary for describing a library plan, including “floor plan,” “facilities,” “lecture room,” “reading room,” and “self-service machines.” These terms show an attempt to address the diagram specifically. However, the range is limited and several spelling and word-choice errors make parts of the description difficult to interpret, for example “illustitrate,” “demostrate,” “faclities,” and “cfe.” Some expressions are also imprecise or unnatural, such as “bird eye views,” “room build for,” and “proper facilities.” Aim to use accurate location and change vocabulary, such as “situated,” “replaced by,” and “converted into,” and check spelling carefully. This would make the description more precise and easier to understand.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, and the response is generally recognisable as a description of the two plans. However, grammatical control is weak, with errors in sentence construction, agreement, articles and verb forms. For example, “there is we can see that there is two picture” combines structures and has incorrect agreement, while “the today library that is build” uses an incorrect verb form and article pattern. The sentence beginning “Second room build…” is also incomplete, and punctuation is inconsistent, especially where sentences run together. Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then connect them with clauses such as “whereas” or “which now contains.” Careful proofreading for subject–verb agreement and complete sentences would improve clarity.
