Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify the main purpose of the plans and report several important changes, including the removal of the central tables and chairs, the conversion of the reading room into a computer room, and the addition of a café and self-service machines. These details are generally relevant and show that you have understood both time periods. However, the overview is unclear: “six section … remains as it is” does not accurately summarise the substantial reorganisation, and the plans do not show six sections simply remaining unchanged. Some descriptions are also inaccurate or vague. For example, the former CDs and games room becomes a children’s fiction/storytelling room, not a “debating room,” and the adult fiction area is relocated rather than permanently removed. A clearer overview and more precise account of the main relocations would strengthen the response.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable overall sequence: an introduction, an overview, and paragraphs describing changes from the entrance and around the plan. Linking expressions such as “To commence” and “Moreover” help signal progression. However, the organisation is not consistently clear because several changes are packed into long sentences, and the reader has to work out which old area corresponds to which new one. The overview’s claim that six sections remain unchanged also conflicts with the details that follow. Some connections, such as “Adult fiction books centre were alter on the adult non-fiction books side,” are difficult to interpret. Grouping the changes by side or by former-to-current location, and using clearer references such as “the former reading room,” would make the progression easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You attempt a range of vocabulary suited to describing changes, including “converted,” “modify,” “established,” and “self-service machines.” This gives you some useful variety beyond basic terms. However, inaccurate word choice and spelling are noticeable and sometimes make the meaning unclear. “Debating room” does not describe the storytelling area, while “permanantly removed” suggests the adult fiction collection disappeared rather than moved. There are also misspellings such as “repersentation,” “ficition,” and “diplay,” and some unnatural combinations, including “pictorial representation” and “empty space for walk around.” Aim for precise map vocabulary and check spelling; terms such as “relocated,” “replaced by,” and “open central area” would communicate the changes more naturally.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including clauses linked with “while” and “whereas,” and the main ideas can usually be understood. However, grammatical control is inconsistent, particularly with agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence construction. Examples include “there are six section … remains,” “central library have,” and “the Computer games room were change.” The opening phrase “how it’s look” also has an incorrect verb form, and “tables and chairs were removed and its a empty space” combines tense and article errors. Some sentences become difficult to follow because several clauses are joined without clear grammatical structure. Practise accurate past-tense passive forms for changes, such as “was converted into,” and check subject–verb agreement and singular/plural forms.
