The maps depict the development of the Central Library over the period 20 year.

Overall, the central library become more modernized, well-organized and visitor friendly over the 20 years. Some new features are developed such as information desk and self-sevice machines, although many old facilities are replaced, redesigned, expanded and removed.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You identify the overall change from the earlier arrangement to a more service-oriented present-day library, and you report several accurate locations and conversions: the central tables and chairs have gone, the former reading room is now a computer room, and the enquiry-desk area has become a café. However, some important changes are omitted or only briefly mentioned. In particular, the adult fiction and non-fiction areas have been reorganised: the former non-fiction area is now adult fiction with an information desk and self-service machines, while reference books occupy the former adult-fiction area. The children’s books area is now a lecture room, and the new children’s fiction/storytelling room is on the northwest side. Your overview is relevant, but claims such as “well-organized” are not clearly demonstrated by the plan. Covering these changes more fully would make the summary more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, an overview, a paragraph on the former layout, and a final paragraph describing the present plan. This gives the reader a workable progression, and phrases such as “Regarding to the previous layout” and “Turning to the present map” signal the shift in time. The location-based descriptions also help organise the information. However, some linking is mechanical or awkward, particularly the repeated “While” and “Meanwhile,” and the long sequence of directions in the third paragraph makes relationships between features harder to follow. The final paragraph is comparatively brief and does not describe several major present-day changes. Use clearer grouping—for example, changes to the left and right sides—and connect each former feature directly to its new use.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a reasonable range of map-related vocabulary, including “north-west side,” “transformed,” “removed,” and “located,” and the reader can generally understand the intended features. However, spelling errors and imprecise word choices are noticeable, including “perivous,” “loacted,” “childern,” and “equiry.” Some expressions are also unnatural or repetitive: “the period 20 year,” “Regarding to,” and “as opposite side” do not express the relationships idiomatically. “Developed” is not the most precise verb for facilities added to a floor plan. These issues limit the accuracy and naturalness of the description, even though they do not usually prevent understanding. Aim for precise map vocabulary and check spelling and collocations carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex forms, including the overview sentence beginning “although” and the contrast “The tables and chairs are removed, whereas…”. The main ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “over the period 20 year” needs a plural time expression, and “the central library become” does not use the correct past-tense form. In “It can be seen CDs…,” the clause needs a grammatical link such as “that” or a different construction. There are also problems with articles, prepositions, and sentence boundaries, as in “Right side of the entrance” and the fragment-like “While, The entrance…”. Use consistent past and present tenses for the two plans, and proofread each sentence for a complete clause and accurate agreement.
