Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You identify the two time periods and report several relevant locations, including the former reading room and enquiry desk and the current lecture room, computer room and café. However, the response is mainly a list of positions rather than a clear summary of the main changes. It omits important transformations, such as the removal of the central tables and chairs, the replacement of adult non-fiction with reference books, and the addition of self-service machines. Some locations are also unclear: “in front right side corner” does not accurately explain where the children’s books were. A concise overview of the major changes, followed by accurate comparisons, would make the response more complete and clearly focused on the task.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response separates the earlier and current layouts into paragraphs, and the repeated time references help the reader recognise the basic comparison. However, ideas within each paragraph are crowded together in long strings, often joined by “and,” “while” or “then.” This makes the sequence of locations difficult to follow, particularly in the first paragraph. The opening sentence, “I wil explain in the following,” does not contribute useful organisation, and the final paragraph does not clearly distinguish the central and rear areas. Organise the information into a clear overview and grouped comparisons—for example, left side, right side and central area—and use linking phrases to show how features changed.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use some relevant vocabulary for describing a library plan, including “floor plan,” “reading room,” “enquiry desk,” “lecture room” and “self service machines.” However, the range is basic and several phrases are inaccurate or awkward, which sometimes strains understanding. For example, “situated in the left side of the corner” and “in back side corner of the left side build a reading room” do not express locations naturally. There are also spelling errors such as “daigarm,” “fction” and “referece.” Learn precise location phrases and check spelling carefully; this will help you describe the plan more clearly without relying on repeated “side,” “corner” and “build.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

Most of the response uses simple sentence patterns, with limited control of more complex structures. Errors are frequent and sometimes make relationships between features unclear. For example, “The daigram show” has a subject–verb agreement error, while “Central library of a looks now is situated” has an unclear sentence structure. The phrase “in back left side build a computer room” also lacks a clear grammatical subject and verb construction. Articles and prepositions are often missing or incorrectly used, as in “in center library tables and chairs.” Practise complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and use consistent present and past forms when comparing the two plans.
