Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You identify several important changes, including the removal of the central tables and chairs, the conversion of the former reading room into a computer room, and the change from an enquiry desk to a café. These are relevant features, and your opening overview gives the reader a useful sense of the main alterations. However, some key details are missing or unclear: the former CDs and games room became the children’s fiction and storytelling area, while the former children’s books room became a lecture room. You mention these changes, but the final comparison is incomplete, and the new information desk and self-service machines are not reported. Develop the overview and cover the main changes more fully and precisely.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, an overview, and a description that moves from the entrance towards the far end of the library. Phrases such as “On the left side” and “On the end of the floor” help indicate location. However, progression becomes difficult to follow in places because several changes are packed into long sentences, and the final sentence stops at “between the”, leaving the comparison unfinished. The repeated sequencing words “first” and “second” also make the linking feel mechanical. Use separate paragraphs for the overview and the detailed comparisons, and group features by side or area. Complete each sentence and use clear references to distinguish the old and new layouts.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant map vocabulary, including “entrance”, “converted”, “reading room”, and “tables and chairs”, so the reader can understand the general subject and several changes. There is also some attempt to describe location through phrases such as “in front of the door” and “on the left side”. However, spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable, including “lacture”, “vidios”, and “their” where “there” is intended. Some phrases are also imprecise or unnatural, such as “a clean path” and “on the end of the floor”. Aim for accurate, conventional terms such as “central corridor”, “enclosed room”, and “was replaced by”, and check spelling carefully. This would make the description clearer and more precise.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, for example, “the tables and chairs were removed from the middle” and the sentence beginning “On the left side”. This shows some range, but control is inconsistent. Errors include subject–verb agreement in “three major differences which is seen”, article and plural problems in “a tables and chairs”, and tense or passive-form errors in “it is convert” and “The enquiry desk is replace”. Capitalisation and punctuation are also unreliable, with sentence starts such as “overall” and “first” left in lower case and several sentences joined by full stops or conjunctions without clear boundaries. Practise accurate past-tense comparisons and passive forms, and divide longer sentences into complete, correctly punctuated statements.
