Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You identify the two time periods and report several relevant changes, including the former reading room becoming a computer room and the new storytelling area for children. However, the account is only partially accurate and the main changes are not clearly summarised. For example, the enquiry desk did not move to the lecture room and café; it was replaced by an information desk in the adult-fiction area, alongside self-service machines. The café is in the bottom-right room, while the lecture room is at the top right. You also omit important changes such as the former tables and chairs being removed and the new lecture room. A clear overview of the major reorganisation, followed by accurate comparisons, would make the response more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a basic chronological structure: it first describes the earlier plan and then the current one. This gives the reader some sense of progression, and location phrases such as “top left corner” help organise details. However, the opening does not provide a clear overview, and several sentences are arranged as a list of locations rather than as connected comparisons. Linking expressions such as “Then” and “But” are repetitive or imprecise, while “straight to entrance in mddle” makes the spatial relationship difficult to follow. Grouping changes by area—for example, the left side, right side and central space—and using clear contrasts such as “whereas” would improve the overall progression and cohesion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant vocabulary for describing a library plan, including “entrance,” “reading room,” “enquiry desk,” and “top left corner.” These terms show an attempt to describe both facilities and locations. However, the range is limited, and spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable, sometimes making details harder to understand. Examples include “cental,” “equiry,” “friction books” and “slight attack,” which appear to refer to the central library, enquiry desk, fiction books and a room adjacent to the entrance. Repeated use of “side,” “corner” and “room” also limits precision. Practise accurate map vocabulary and use alternatives such as “located,” “replaced,” and “adjacent to” to describe changes more precisely.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt to describe locations and changes using both simple sentences and some longer structures, but grammatical errors are frequent and can make relationships unclear. For example, “The diagram illustrate” has incorrect subject–verb agreement, while “These library are divided” has problems with number and agreement. The phrase “on 20 years ago” uses an incorrect time construction, and “the left side had reading room” lacks a clear grammatical structure and article. Several sentences begin with fragments such as “coming through the entrance” or “And the top right corner had…”. Use complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, check singular and plural forms, and practise past-versus-present forms when comparing the two plans.
