Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify the overall redevelopment and compare several important features, including the unchanged entrance, the new computer room, lecture room and café, and the replacement of the central tables and chairs. Most locations and changes are relevant, but some details are misreported or unclear. For example, the old reading room was at the bottom left, not on the right, and the CDs room was at the top left; the enquiry desk was at the bottom right. The present information desk and self-service machines are also described confusingly as an enquiry desk being relocated and replaced. Your overview would be stronger if it clearly summarised the main pattern of change, such as the removal of the central seating and the reorganisation of book areas, before giving accurate location-by-location details.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate descriptions of the earlier and current layouts. This gives the reader a coherent overall route through the comparison. However, some linking is mechanical or unclear, particularly the repeated use of “while,” “whereas,” and “however.” The sentence beginning “However, adult fiction books area, inquiry desk are relocated…” is difficult to follow because it combines several changes without making their relationships clear. Grouping details by location—for example, left side, right side, and central area—and using clearer references to the earlier and present plans would improve progression. Check that each contrast connects two accurately identified features.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a relevant range of vocabulary for describing plans, including “layout,” “redevelopment,” “consisted of,” “replaced,” and “addition.” These choices communicate the general topic, but inaccurate spelling and word forms are noticeable: “remianed,” “unchnaged,” “magzines,” “corver,” “Inqiry,” and “repleced.” Some expressions are also imprecise or unnatural, such as “left handed side,” “right handed side,” and “room for fiction books.” Prefer standard spatial phrases such as “on the left/right” and more exact labels such as “children’s fiction section.” “Story telling” should be written as “storytelling,” and “cafe” as “café.” More accurate collocations and careful proofreading would make your descriptions clearer and more natural.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including comparisons with “while” and “whereas,” and most of the intended meaning can be understood. Some grammatical errors remain, especially with articles, agreement, and sentence construction. For example, “with addition of lecture room” needs an article, while “Other changes includes” has a subject–verb agreement error. In “The area for adult fiction and non fiction books located…,” the main verb is missing; a complete form would be “The areas for adult fiction and non-fiction books were located…”. The sentence beginning “Whereas, entrance…” is also not a complete independent sentence. Use full clauses consistently, check singular and plural agreement, and punctuate contrast clauses carefully.
