Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify several important changes, including the removal of the central tables and chairs, the conversion of the reading room into a computer room, and the replacement of the enquiry desk with a café. You also note the new storytelling area and the changes to the book sections. However, the overview is not clearly separated from the details, and some comparisons are inaccurate or imprecise: the library does not simply retain “same four rooms in every corner,” and the former children’s-books room became a lecture room, while the new children’s fiction and storytelling room occupies the top-left room. The response therefore covers relevant features but does not present the overall transformation clearly or consistently. Organise the main changes into a concise overview, then report the locations accurately.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has some organisation: it first contrasts the central seating and new storytelling area, then discusses the reading room, enquiry desk and book sections. However, the progression is not consistently clear because several changes are packed into long sentences, and the paragraphing does not distinguish an overview from supporting details. Linking words such as “however” and “moreover” are used, but sometimes the relationship between the ideas is unclear; for example, “moreover” joins two separate room conversions without explaining their connection. Repeated references to “older library” and “today library” also make the account feel list-like. Use a clear overview followed by grouped comparisons, and use linking expressions only where they accurately show contrast or addition.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant vocabulary for describing a plan, including “replaced,” “converted,” “in the middle,” and “on the right side.” These choices help communicate several changes. However, the range is limited and there are frequent spelling and word-choice problems, such as “flore plan,” “apparence,” “athentic,” “aldult,” and “Childern.” Some phrases are also unnatural, including “chairs and table was decorated” and “same four rooms in every corner,” which can make the intended meaning difficult to follow. Aim for accurate, conventional map vocabulary and check spelling carefully. For example, use “floor plan,” “layout,” “located,” and “was replaced by” rather than relying on broad or awkward expressions.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt to combine ideas using contrast and addition, as in “however” and “moreover,” but sentence structures are often faulty, and errors sometimes make relationships difficult to understand. Examples include “20 year ago,” “the today library structure,” and “chairs and table was,” where number, word order and subject–verb agreement are not controlled. Articles and sentence boundaries are also inconsistent, as in “in front of main entrance however, today library have no tables and chairs.” The response relies heavily on long sentences joined by commas, with limited accurate control of complex forms. Build shorter, complete sentences first, then practise accurate comparisons such as “The reading room was replaced by a computer room” and “The library now has a café.”
