Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify that the library has changed and mention several relevant features, including the former enquiry desk, reading room, adult fiction and non-fiction areas, and the new café, information desk, machines and lecture room. However, the comparison is only partial and some locations or changes are misreported: the old enquiry desk was on the right, not the left, and the reading room was on the left. The new lecture room replaces the children’s-books room, while the café occupies the former reading-room area; these changes are not clearly explained. The overview that the plan has “some new things” is too general, and important changes such as the removal of the central tables and the new computer room are omitted. Select the main transformations and describe them accurately.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a basic overall shape: an opening, a brief overview and descriptions of the older and newer plans. Time references such as “In the older plan” and “The new plan” help the reader recognise the two periods. However, progression within the descriptions is difficult to follow. The long sentence beginning “Then after a type of coridor is made” combines several locations and changes without clear relationships, and “After that” does not make the layout sequence precise. The final paragraph is very brief and lists changes rather than organising them by area or function. Use separate paragraphs for the overview and each plan, then group comparisons by left/right or by the major rooms. Clearer linking and reference would make the account easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “entrance,” “enquiry desk,” “reading room,” “adult fiction books,” “non fiction,” “machines” and “lecture room.” This gives the reader a basic sense of the library’s contents. However, the range is limited and several phrases are imprecise or awkward, such as “some new things,” “a type of coridor is made” and “two areas right after the entrance specified for enquiry desk.” Spelling errors—including “coridor,” “childern's,” “plance,” “mnay” and “dest”—are noticeable and sometimes slow understanding. Aim for precise map language such as “is located,” “was converted into” and “on the left-hand side,” and check spelling carefully. More accurate collocations would help you describe changes without relying on vague wording.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt both simple and longer sentences, and the opening comparison and use of “Overall” show an effort to organise information grammatically. However, the range is limited, and errors are frequent enough to make some relationships unclear. For example, “two different plan” has a number-agreement error, while “one belong to current era” and “the second belong to 20 years ago” use incorrect verb forms and omit necessary articles. In “this area also be divided,” the passive construction is not formed correctly; “that is on the left” also does not agree with “areas.” Sentence boundaries and punctuation are inconsistent, including spaces before commas. Practise accurate past and present forms, articles, plurals and passive structures, and divide long sentences into shorter, controlled statements.
