Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You identify a few relevant changes, including the unchanged entrance, the removal of the central tables and chairs, and the addition of a café. However, the response addresses the task only partially: it is below the required 150 words, and the overview is brief and partly unclear. Several comparisons are inaccurate or confusing. The former children’s-books room is now a lecture room, but the former CDs/videos/games room became a children’s-fiction and storytelling room—not a “storytelling room (newspaper room).” The reading room and enquiry desk changes, as well as the new computer room and self-service machines, are not reported. To improve, give a clear overview of the main reorganisation, then describe the key changes by area using accurate before-and-after details.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

There is a basic attempt to organise the response: an opening statement, an overview, and a paragraph beginning “First of all” to describe changes. This gives the reader some sense of sequence, and words such as “but” and “Furthermore” signal comparison or addition. However, the response ends abruptly at “opposite to previous su,” so the final comparison is incomplete and the overall progression is difficult to follow. The overview also combines several ideas without clearly distinguishing what moved or changed. Use separate, complete paragraphs for the overview and the main location changes, and connect each comparison explicitly—for example, state what occupied a location before and what occupies it now.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “entrance,” “chairs and tables,” “lecture room,” and “cafe,” so the basic subject is recognisable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or spellings make the description difficult to interpret. “Replaced in revelant rooms” does not clearly express what happened to the furniture, while “computers and video games room” does not accurately name the former room. There are also errors such as “ceter,” “fictiob,” and “cafe.” Aim for precise map vocabulary and consistent labels from the plan, such as “converted into,” “relocated,” “enclosed room,” and “open area.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response attempts both simple statements and a contrast using “but,” and the main ideas can often be understood. However, the range of sentence structures is limited, and frequent errors affect clarity. For example, “The maps below gives” has subject–verb disagreement, while “comparison of public library how it is now” has an incomplete, awkward structure. “The entrance of library is same” is missing necessary articles, and “the chairs and tables were at the ceter site but now it is replaced” has unclear agreement and tense. The final sentence is unfinished. Practise complete comparative sentences with consistent past and present forms, such as “The central tables were removed and the area is now used for…”
