Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify the broad change from a simpler library to one with new facilities, and you compare some locations, such as the entrance and the former central tables. However, the response only partially reports the plan: several important changes are omitted, including the new information desk and self-service machines, the relocation of adult fiction, the reference-book area, and the lecture room and café in the current layout. Some details are inaccurate or unclear: the old children’s room was at the top right, not directly in front of the entrance, and the video-game room was at the top left. The overview that the library is “more advanced” is vague. Give a precise overview of the main conversions, then describe the old and new layouts accurately.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic, useful structure: it begins with a general comparison, then describes the former plan and the current one. Time markers such as “In the past map” and “In the latest library map” help the reader follow the shift between layouts. However, progression within the descriptions is not consistently clear, and several location relationships are difficult to interpret, particularly “in the straight” and “right front of the children room.” The final paragraph also stops after mentioning only a few current facilities, so the comparison feels incomplete. Organise each layout in a consistent route, such as from the entrance around the left and right sides, and use clear references such as “to the north-west” and “opposite.”
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary for describing a library plan, including “entrance,” “centre,” “chairs,” “reading room,” and “lecture room.” There is also an attempt to describe change with “added,” which is appropriate in principle. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, making some details hard to understand: “library divided into a four different sizes of rooms” does not clearly describe the layout, and “computer” should identify the computer room. Spelling errors such as “digrams,” “Vedio,” and “blibrary” are noticeable. Use precise plan vocabulary and check spelling; for example, describe rooms as “enclosed” or “open-plan” and facilities as having been “added” or “converted.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences with linking words such as “Moreover” and “However,” but control is inconsistent, and complex sentences often contain several errors. Examples include “how it was looks before a 20 years ago,” “there is two tables,” and “library divided into a four different sizes of rooms.” These show problems with tense, subject–verb agreement, articles, and sentence construction. Missing or misplaced punctuation also causes run-on phrasing, as in “more simple. However today.” Aim first for accurate, complete sentences: “Twenty years ago, there were two tables in the centre,” and “Today, the library has several new rooms.” Then add more complex comparisons while checking verb forms and agreement.
