Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify several important changes, including the removal of the central tables and chairs, the addition of a café, and the conversion of the former reading room into a computer room. You also note changes to the book areas and the new storytelling and lecture spaces. However, some comparisons are unclear or inaccurate: the café is in the former enquiry-desk area, not where the central tables and chairs were, and the adult fiction section moved from the left to the right rather than simply being “delayed.” The overview mentions selected changes but does not clearly summarise the overall reorganisation. To strengthen the response, describe the main shifts by area and distinguish accurately between what was removed, relocated, and newly added.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has an opening, an overview, and two body paragraphs, and it generally moves from the central and left areas to the right side of the plan. This gives the reader some structure. However, progression within the paragraphs is difficult to follow because several changes are joined in long sentences with “while,” “moreover,” and “not only this but also.” For example, the final sentence combines the children’s books, lecture room, adult non-fiction, information desk, enquiry desk, and café without clearly separating the comparisons. Some references, such as “they” and “it,” are also unclear. Organise the details by location and use shorter sentences with precise links between each former and current feature.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant vocabulary for describing a library plan, including “entrance,” “reading room,” “reference books,” “lecture room,” and “self-service machines.” This shows a basic range suited to the task. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unclear, such as “delays the place,” “changed with,” and “replace as well the place.” There are also spelling and form errors, including “Infrmation” and “Adultfiction,” which make parts of the description harder to understand. Aim for precise map language such as “was replaced by,” “was converted into,” and “was relocated to.” Check spelling and use consistent forms for labels such as “adult fiction books” and “children’s books.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt to connect ideas using subordinate clauses and contrast markers, but complex sentences are often faulty, and errors occur throughout. For example, “before 20 years” and “right now how it looks” do not form natural time expressions, while “it replaced in the right” is missing a correctly formed verb phrase. Agreement and articles are also inconsistent in “we had a Tables and chairs” and “they add Sofa.” Punctuation and capitalisation are uneven, particularly where clauses are joined with “While” or “moreover.” These errors sometimes make the relationships between features difficult to interpret. Practise accurate past-versus-present forms and build comparisons in shorter, complete sentences before combining them.
