Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify several important changes, including the removal of the central tables and chairs, the conversion of the reading room into a computer room, and the replacement of the enquiry desk with a café. You also note the new lecture room and storytelling area. However, some comparisons are inaccurate or unclear: the children’s books room became a lecture room, while the storytelling and children’s fiction area replaced the former CDs/videos/games room; the adult fiction section became reference books, not the other way around as your wording suggests. The overview is present but difficult to follow, and other key changes, such as the self-service machines and information desk, are only briefly mentioned. Clearer, more accurate descriptions of the main transformations would strengthen the response.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response includes an overview followed by details about several parts of the library, so there is some attempt to organise the information. However, progression is difficult to follow because the paragraphs do not consistently group changes by location or by the old and new plans. Phrases such as “In the first plan” and “in the next rearrange plan” are repeated, while links between ideas are often unclear. The final sentence, “In the middle space are totally free from the entrance,” does not clearly connect to the preceding comparison. Use a clear overview, then organise details into logical groups—for example, changes on the left and right sides—and use precise references such as “the former reading room” and “the new layout.”
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary for describing a library plan, including “replace,” “reading room,” “newspapers and magazines,” “information desk,” and “self-service machines.” This shows an attempt to use task-specific language. However, the range is limited and several word choices or spellings make the meaning difficult to understand, such as “rearrange,” “make space blank,” “attach in north side,” and “machiones.” Some phrases are also unnatural, including “the people library” and “the middle space are totally free.” Aim for accurate map vocabulary such as “converted into,” “located in the upper-left corner,” “removed,” and “open central area.” Check spelling carefully and choose precise terms rather than repeating “replace” for every change.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt to combine information into longer sentences, but complex structures are often faulty and can make relationships between changes unclear. For example, “In the diagram display the plan in floor of the people library before 20 years” lacks a clear subject and has an incorrect time expression, while “Adult fiction books replace by all reference books” does not form a correct passive construction. There are also problems with articles, agreement, and tense, as in “In the middle space are totally free.” Use straightforward past-versus-present comparisons first: “The former reading room has been converted into a computer room.” Then check subject–verb agreement, articles, and punctuation, and avoid joining several changes in one sentence.
