Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the broad change from the older layout to a more modern library and mention several relevant conversions, including the former reading room becoming a computer room and the addition of a café. However, the overview is vague: “much more developed” does not clearly summarise the main spatial changes. Some details are inaccurate or unclear. The children’s books room became a lecture room, not a “Lecture book”; the former CDs/videos/games room became a children’s fiction and storytelling area, rather than simply being replaced by sofas; and the central space is not “empty” in the sense of having no facilities, as it now includes several new areas elsewhere. Include the major changes more precisely, especially the reorganisation of book sections and the new information desk and self-service machines.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic structure, with an introduction, an overall statement and paragraphs describing changes on the west and east sides. This gives the reader some sense of how the information is organised. However, progression is not consistently clear: the final paragraph moves from the eastern rooms to the central area and then to the café without clear transitions. Phrases such as “In the east side” and “After 20 years the main change I have seen now” do not establish relationships precisely, while “this” in “this is better view” has an unclear reference. Organise the comparison by matching old and new areas, and use clear location-based links such as “In the former reading-room area” or “On the eastern side.”

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant vocabulary for describing a library plan, including “replaced,” “entrance,” “Computer Room,” and “Cafe,” and you attempt to describe change over time. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations make the meaning unclear, such as “facilitates were expanded,” “Lecture book,” and “newly trend able.” Repetition of “change,” “place,” and “better” also reduces precision. Use the exact labels shown in the plan and choose neutral descriptive language rather than personal evaluations such as “the best thing which I have seen.” More accurate terms for layout changes and facilities would make the comparison easier to follow.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, but control is inconsistent, and errors sometimes make relationships difficult to understand. For example, the opening needs a subject and article in “the floor plan of public library has changed,” while “New areas added” is missing an auxiliary verb. There are also problems with agreement and sentence construction in “this is better view and better way to comes the student and staff.” The final sentence, “Now Library becomes a newly trend able…,” is difficult to interpret grammatically. Practise forming accurate past and present comparisons, including complete clauses and consistent tense, for example, “The reading room has been converted into a computer room.” Check articles, verb forms and plural nouns when editing.
