Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify several important changes, including the replacement of the reading room with a computer room, the former children’s room becoming a lecture room, and the addition of a café and self-service machines. This gives the response relevant coverage of both plans. However, the overview is unclear and includes a significant reversal: originally, adult fiction was on the left and adult non-fiction on the right, not the other way around. The claim that the computer-games room became the storytelling area is also inaccurate; it became the children’s fiction/storytelling room, while the lecture room occupies the former children’s-books room. Some changes, such as the removal of the central tables and the conversion of the enquiry desk area, are noted, but the main comparisons need more precise and complete reporting.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable overall structure: an opening overview is followed by descriptions of the earlier layout and subsequent changes. This helps the reader follow the broad comparison, and linking phrases such as “Overall,” “In addition to this,” and “Moreover” show an attempt to connect information. However, the progression is not consistently clear. The first paragraph combines an overview with several details, and the second and third paragraphs do not always distinguish the two plans cleanly. For example, “between this adult non-fictional books racks” makes the location relationship difficult to understand, while “Now computer games room replace by storytelling events place” leaves the sequence of changes unclear. Grouping changes by area and using clearer references to “the former…” would make cohesion more reliable.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a relevant range of vocabulary for describing a library plan, including “floor plans,” “renovation,” “enquiry desk,” “self service machines,” and “seating area.” These terms show awareness of the task’s subject, and the reader can generally identify the facilities being compared. However, several word-choice, collocation, and spelling problems reduce precision: “computer build” does not clearly name a facility, “developmental changes” is unnatural in this context, and “proper seating area” is vague. There are also repeated inaccurate forms such as “childern,” “botton,” and “non-fictional.” Aim for standard plan-description phrases such as “was converted into,” “was replaced by,” and “children’s fiction section,” and check spelling and compound forms carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences with clauses, as in “Overall, it is apparent that…” and “After the developmental changes…”. This provides some structural variety, and the main topic is usually understandable. However, errors in sentence construction and verb forms are persistent enough to make several relationships unclear. For example, “the enquiry desk area replace by cafe” needs a passive form (“was replaced by a café”), while “reading room change into computer room” also needs a correctly formed past passive. The opening phrase “the 20 years old floor plans” has an inaccurate modifier structure, and articles are often missing in phrases such as “middle of library.” Improve control of past and present forms, passive constructions, articles, and sentence boundaries before adding more complex structures.
