Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify several important changes, including the entrance staying in place, the former reading room becoming a computer room, and the north-west room being repurposed. However, the response covers the plan only partially: it omits major changes such as the lecture room, café, information desk and self-service machines, and the overview that “almost all the sectors” changed is too general to summarise the main pattern clearly. The claim that the enquiry desk was replaced by the café is also imprecise: the café occupies the former reading-room area, while the enquiry desk area now contains the café? [Correction: the café is in the bottom-right area, where the enquiry desk was located.] The response is 141 words, so it is 9 words below the 150-word minimum; 14 words copied from the prompt were excluded from the count. Add a clearer overview and report more of the key relocations.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a basic overall sequence: it begins with an overview, then describes changes around the entrance and the two sides of the plan. This gives the reader some orientation. However, progression is limited because the first paragraph repeats the removal of the tables and chairs, and the second paragraph moves between locations without a consistent route through the plan. The phrase “right side right side” is repetitive, while “by reducing the space…” is attached awkwardly to the preceding information, making the relationship between the old and new areas unclear. Use separate paragraphs for the overview and grouped details, and organise the comparisons systematically—for example, left side first, then right side—using clear links such as “whereas” and “in addition”.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some relevant vocabulary for describing a library plan, including “floor plan,” “entrance,” “reading room,” “computer room” and “replaced.” These terms make the general subject understandable. However, the range is limited, and several word-choice, spelling and word-form errors reduce precision: “develop” does not fit the intended meaning, “thimngs” is misspelled, and “repleced” is also misspelled. Phrases such as “changed into new things” and “there is nothing” are vague and do not describe the new layout precisely. Aim for accurate map vocabulary such as “converted into,” “relocated,” “removed” and “open area,” and name the new facilities rather than referring to them generally. Proofreading spelling and avoiding repeated wording would make the description clearer.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt a range of sentence forms, including an overview sentence and comparisons using “but” and “where.” Some basic relationships are understandable, such as “The entrance remained in the same place,” but frequent errors in verb forms, sentence construction, articles and punctuation make parts difficult to follow. For example, “almost all the sectors have been develop” uses an incorrect verb form, while “the table and chairs removed” lacks an auxiliary verb. The final sentence beginning “by reducing the space…” is a fragment and does not clearly connect its ideas. There are also repeated or missing words and inconsistent sentence boundaries. Practise complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check past-tense forms when comparing the earlier plan with today’s layout.
