Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You identify the broad change that the library now offers more facilities, and you mention several relevant areas, including the computer room, café, lecture room and children’s area. However, the comparison is only partly accurate and developed. For example, the original plan has a reading room, a room for CDs, videos and computer games, and a children’s-books room; it does not show a computer room. The current plan also includes an information desk and self-service machines, while the former central tables and chairs have been removed. These important changes are not clearly reported. The overview that the old library was “extremely small” is not supported by the plans. Focus on the main changes and describe locations precisely.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is some organisation: you begin with an introduction, provide an overall comparison, and then attempt to describe the two plans before concluding. This gives the reader a basic sense of the response’s purpose. However, progression is difficult to follow because the body combines several locations in long, loosely connected sentences, such as “to entry the library to go left side…” The sequence of directions is not consistently clear, and phrases such as “In summary” and “In conclusion” repeat the summarising function. Use separate paragraphs for the overview and the main comparisons, and group features by side or by what changed. Clearer linking and reference to “the former plan” and “the current plan” would make the relationships easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You attempt vocabulary relevant to describing a library, including “facilities,” “Lecture room,” “computer room,” and “siting area.” This shows some awareness of the topic, but the range is limited and several word choices or spellings make the meaning unclear. Examples include “how it see,” “littel features,” “compeletly modify,” and “orther side.” Some expressions are also imprecise: “computer gaming room” does not accurately name the former room, which contained CDs, videos and computer games. Aim for accurate plan vocabulary and natural collocations, such as “is located,” “was replaced by,” and “the central area.” Check spelling and word forms carefully, as errors currently strain the reader’s understanding.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts longer sentences and comparisons, including “Whereas…” and “On the other…,” but sentence structures are very limited in control, and errors frequently obscure relationships between ideas. For example, “The chart demonstrate the information to floor plan” has problems with subject–verb agreement, articles and sentence construction. “In nowday the library has to facilitate it have many component” also combines clauses without a clear grammatical relationship. Tense and agreement are inconsistent, as in “20 years ago library is” and “library is have.” Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then connect them with a controlled range of clauses. Pay particular attention to articles, plural forms, verb agreement and complete sentence boundaries.
