Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You cover the main transformation and give a clear overall impression that the library has changed substantially. The comparison includes several accurate details: the central tables and chairs were removed, the former reading room became a computer room, and the enquiry desk area became a café. You also identify the new lecture room and the children’s fiction/storytelling space. Some details are less fully or precisely reported: the children’s books room became the lecture room, while the CDs/videos/computer-games room became the children’s area, but the description of the latter as “a set of sofa” is incomplete. The overview is also broad rather than summarising the main pattern of changes. A more precise overview and clearer coverage of the changed book sections would strengthen the response.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, a description of the former layout, and a paragraph on the current plan. This gives the reader a workable chronological comparison, and phrases such as “Firstly” and “In secound map” signal the shift between plans. However, the overview repeats the general idea of change without identifying the most important changes, and several details are crowded into long sentences, especially the final sentence. The sequence within each paragraph is not always easy to follow because locations and changes are combined without clear grouping. Organising the comparison by areas—left side, right side, and centre—or pairing each former feature with its replacement would make progression clearer and reduce the mechanical use of linking phrases.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for describing a floor plan, including “replaced,” “removed,” “converted,” “entrance,” and “self service machine.” These choices allow you to communicate most of the changes. However, the range is limited and some wording is imprecise or repetitive: “a lot of things,” “many differences,” and “a set of sofa” do not describe the plan naturally. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “completly,” “changs,” “digram,” and “Emquiry,” which reduce the accuracy and polish of the description. Aim for precise terms such as “facilities,” “sections,” and “designated as,” and check spelling and collocations carefully. This would make the account more fluent and exact.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex forms, including passive constructions such as “have been removed” and “have been replaced,” which are useful for describing changes. However, control is inconsistent, and errors occur in many sentences. For example, “before 20 years ago and now how it looks” has an awkward time structure, while “there is a many differences” has an agreement and article problem. Tense and agreement are also inconsistent in “adult non fiction books has been removed,” and several sentences run together with weak punctuation. Practise forming clear past-versus-present comparisons, checking subject–verb agreement, and separating related points into shorter sentences. More accurate control of these patterns would make your meaning easier to follow.
