Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You cover the main changes on both sides of the library and in the central area, including the conversion of the former media room to a children’s fiction/storytelling room, the new lecture room and café, and the removal of the tables and chairs. These details are generally consistent with the plans, and the opening identifies the comparison period. To make the overview more effective, state the broad pattern of change directly—for example, that several former book and reading areas were reassigned to new facilities, while the central seating was removed. Some details are less fully reported: the storytelling room also contains sofas, and the current adult-fiction area includes an information desk and self-service machines. The response therefore selects relevant features but does not develop all of them equally.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable sequence: it introduces the comparison, then describes the west side, the east side and finally the centre. This makes the main locations reasonably easy to follow. However, the paragraphing does not clearly separate an overview from the detailed comparisons, and the progression within the body is somewhat mechanical. “Afterwards” is not a natural signal for moving from one side of a floor plan to another, while “In addition to it” and “In the middle” do little to clarify relationships between changes. Group the information into a concise overview followed by two location-based paragraphs, and use precise references such as “on the western side” or “in the former reading-room area” to make connections clearer.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use a suitable range of vocabulary for describing changes and locations, including “turned into,” “replaced,” “converted,” “omitted” and “self-service machines.” These choices help communicate the main transformations, and the meaning is generally clear. However, some wording is imprecise or unnatural: “how much it has changed” suggests a quantity, “the placement of” is unnecessarily cumbersome, and “the area … is now serving as a place for” is wordy. There are also spelling errors in “illustarte,” “refernce” and “cafe,” which reduce accuracy. Aim for concise, conventional map language such as “was converted into,” “now houses” and “was removed,” and check spelling carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, and most of the changes can be understood. For example, “The Enquiry desk section is changed into a cafe” communicates the intended transformation, while the longer sentence about the adult non-fiction area combines several details. Some grammatical choices are inaccurate, however. The passive construction should use “has been changed” or, more naturally for a past-to-present comparison, “was replaced by”; “the space of tables and chairs are” has a subject–verb agreement problem and an awkward noun phrase. The sentence beginning “The comparison of both diagrams” also has an unclear structure. Use consistent past-to-present comparison forms and check agreement, articles and sentence boundaries.
