Student answer (Band 5.0)

The given diagram elucidates information about the floor plan of the public library 20 years ago and now. this chart compares two diagrams and presents the data for proper illustration.

Overall, its is a complete change in these diagrams so in the (First diagram) shows the floor plan of the public library in this plan the options for adults and nonadults are mixing and in this plan there are less facilities for every type of people in this plan they dont have any type of sitting area, waiting area so this is the main problem or the second thing there are no service machines its is very time consuming so in this plan manythings needs the right place for giving the best services. in(Second diagram) shows the todays library plan in this plan there are lots of changes like they add a diffrent area for the students where they have children's fiction book, sofas, and the storytelling event area where the children's enjoy and spend time and when we out from this area we see stright a computer room it is help full so on the oposite side a lecture room and adult fiction books are and the self service machines and the information desk these things are helpfull for adults and in this area they have a cafe where they will enjoy some cozines and some type of deserts so we see in today plan there is a very good developments and in this plan they make a one area of adults and the second for children's so in this way all enjoy there things so it is very benificial.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the broad change from the older layout to a more varied modern library, and you mention several genuine additions, including the children’s fiction/storytelling area, computer room, lecture room, self-service machines and café. However, the account is only partly focused on describing and comparing the plans. Some claims are inaccurate or unsupported: the old plan does have a seating area (“Tables & chairs”), and the new plan still includes adult fiction books rather than separating all adult and children’s facilities into distinct areas. Important changes such as the former reading room and enquiry desk being replaced, and the reference-book area, are not clearly reported. Replace opinions about convenience with a concise overview and accurate location-based comparisons.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is an attempt to move from an introduction and overview to details about the newer plan, and phrases such as “Overall” and “in the second diagram” signal the comparison. However, the response has no clear paragraphing and most information is packed into two very long sections, so the reader must work to identify separate features. Linking words are often repetitive or used mechanically, especially repeated “so,” “and,” and “in this plan.” References such as “this area” and “these things” are also unclear. Organise the response into distinct paragraphs: an overview of the main changes, followed by grouped details for the old and new layouts. Use precise location references and a wider range of simple connectors.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-related vocabulary, including “floor plan,” “self-service machines,” “information desk,” and “lecture room,” which helps convey the subject. However, the range is limited and several expressions are vague, informal, or poorly matched to an academic map description. For example, “the main problem,” “helpfull for adults,” and “some type of deserts” add opinion or imprecise detail rather than describing the layout. Spelling errors such as “diffrent,” “stright,” “oposite,” and “benificial” are noticeable, while repeated words such as “plan” and “area” reduce variety. Aim for accurate terms such as “located,” “replaced,” “converted,” and “facilities,” and avoid inventing uses or experiences not shown in the diagram.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response attempts to connect ideas in longer sentences, but these structures are often faulty and make relationships between features difficult to follow. For instance, “Overall, its is a complete change in these diagrams so in the (First diagram) shows…” combines clauses without a sound grammatical structure. There are recurring problems with sentence boundaries, capitalization, articles, and subject–verb agreement, as in “the children's enjoy” and “it is help full.” The opening also shifts awkwardly between present and past forms. Use shorter, complete sentences to describe each change, checking that every clause has a subject and verb. Then add a few controlled complex sentences, with accurate punctuation and consistent tense.
