Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify several relevant features in both plans, including the former reading room, enquiry desk and central tables, as well as the current computer room, café, storytelling area and self-service machines. However, the response mainly lists locations rather than summarising the main changes, and it gives no clear overview of how the library has been reorganised. Some details are inaccurate or unclear: the café is at the bottom right, not the left, and the current plan places the computer room at the bottom left. The claim that the library is “huge differ” is not supported by the plan. To strengthen the response, state the major changes first—for example, the removal of the central seating area and the replacement or relocation of several facilities—then describe the most important changes accurately.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response has separate sections for the former and current layouts, which gives it a basic organising principle, and it generally moves from one area of the plan to another. However, progression within the paragraphs is difficult to follow because many details are joined in long strings, often with repeated connectors such as “morever,” “although” and “therefore.” The opening repeats the task rather than providing a clear overview, and the relationship between locations is sometimes hard to track. For example, the current-plan description shifts from the entrance to the café, then back to the top-left area. Use a concise overview followed by one paragraph for each plan, and group details by side or by major change. Shorter sentences and clearer linking would make the comparisons easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant vocabulary for describing a library, including “enquiry desk,” “reading room,” “adult fiction books,” “reference books” and “self-service machine.” This gives the response enough task-related language to communicate many of the features. However, the range is repetitive, and several word choices or spellings reduce precision, such as “huge differ,” “siting area,” “vedios” and “seflf service machine.” Some phrases are also awkward, including “at left side downward” and “for playing games,” which is not an accurate description of the materials shown. Aim for standard map-description expressions such as “in the bottom-left corner,” “is located” and “has been replaced by.” Check spelling carefully and use precise terms for positions and changes.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
There are attempts to combine information using clauses, for example, “where tables and chairs is located” and “from which individuals can buy tickets,” but sentence structures are often incomplete or poorly controlled. Errors in agreement and verb forms occur repeatedly: “the diagram illustrate,” “how it look,” “children can reads” and “tables and chairs is located.” Articles and sentence boundaries are also inconsistent, while long sentences joined by commas make the relationships between ideas unclear. These problems sometimes make the intended meaning difficult to follow. Practise writing shorter, complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check agreement, tense and punctuation. For example: “The former central seating area has been removed, and a computer room now occupies the bottom-left corner.”
