Student answer (Band 6.0)
People in various countries believe that owning a house is more important than living in rented accommodation. This essay will explore the reasons for this belief and explain why I consider it to be a largely positive development.
One of the main reasons is that owning a home gives people the freedom to go anywhere without worrying about their Home and people don’t have the mental pressure of paying monthly rent or covering any other maintenance expenses. Furthermore, some people believe that buying a house is a great long-term investment because property values usually increase over time. As a result, being a homeowner can provide financial security and build wealth for future generations.
I believe this is a positive situation for several reasons.
First, homeowner have a freedom to decorate or renovate their house according to their preferences without seeking permission from landlord. Secondly, purchasing a home encourages people to save money and responsible to financial decisions. finally, families who have their own house feel more independence and settled, and allowing children to Grow up in a stable environment.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for home ownership and the writer's opinion. However, the essay is significantly under the 250-word minimum, which limits the depth of development. While the ideas are relevant, they are presented in a somewhat superficial manner. For example, the point about financial security is mentioned but not fully explored with specific examples or logical extensions. Because the response is 45 words short, the development of ideas is restricted, preventing it from reaching a higher band. To improve, you must expand your arguments with more detailed explanations and examples to meet the length requirement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay has a basic structure with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. There is a logical progression of ideas, and some cohesive devices are used, such as 'Furthermore', 'First', and 'In conclusion'. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly inaccurate, such as the abrupt transition in the final paragraph. Paragraphing is present, but the final paragraph is incomplete and lacks proper sentence structure. To improve, ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence and that cohesive devices are used to link ideas more fluidly rather than just acting as list markers.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express basic ideas about housing and finance. There are some attempts at topic-specific vocabulary like 'maintenance expenses', 'long-term investment', and 'financial security'. However, there are several errors in word choice and form, such as 'freedomes' and 'responsible to financial decisions' (should be 'responsible for'). The vocabulary range is somewhat limited, and the errors occasionally draw attention to themselves. To improve, focus on using collocations correctly and expanding your range of academic vocabulary to avoid repetitive phrasing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('homeowner have a freedom', 'it offer secuity') and missing articles ('from landlord'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly in the final paragraph where the sentence structure breaks down entirely. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to lower the score. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring that every sentence has a clear subject, verb, and proper punctuation.
