Student answer (Band 6.5)
In the contemporary era, home is one of the most basic need of every person. Some people believe that owning a home rather than renting one is very important for people. There has been a considerable debate on the topic whether it has positive or negative impacts.
A fraction of people believe that owning a home is basic necessity of a human being or a family. Moreover, renting a house and paying installments every month or annually is a stressful job. Furthermore, everyone should have a home because people have full authority and they are the leaders of the house so everyone can adjust their home furniture accordingly. In addition, Owing a house can be fruitful in future for children as well as the location can give us plenty of money. So, it is an investment for subsequent years.
However, it is believed that renting a house has more benefits as a result we can explore ample of locations while giving rent to the owner of the house. Apart from this, rental homes does not allow us to have full responsibility of maintainance of furniture and paying electricity bill or water supplies. Thus, the owner is responsible for these works. A survey conducted by a prestigious newspaper of Britain shows that 10 out of 9 people who are globetrotters or businessmen live in a rental appartment or a house which gives them a number of houses ans location and finding best out of every home.
Different people have different opinions about the statement but I have sound reasons to advocate that in my opinions renting home has more advantages rather than disadvantages.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for the importance of home ownership and a personal opinion on whether this is positive or negative. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the argument regarding 'furniture' as a reason for ownership is quite narrow. The discussion on renting is better developed, but the logic in the paragraph about '10 out of 9 people' is confusing and mathematically impossible, which weakens the support for your position. To improve, ensure your arguments are more substantial and logically sound, and maintain a consistent focus throughout the essay.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, and there is a logical progression of ideas. You use cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'Furthermore', 'However', and 'Apart from this' to link sentences and paragraphs. However, some of these transitions feel slightly mechanical. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the final paragraph where the connection between the survey results and the conclusion is not fully integrated. Improving the flow between sentences and ensuring that your supporting evidence directly reinforces your main points will help achieve a higher band score.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to express your ideas clearly. You attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'installments', 'globetrotters', and 'investment'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'basic need of every person' (should be 'needs') and 'give us plenty of money' (which is imprecise). There are also minor errors like 'maintainance' (spelling) and 'rental appartment'. Expanding your range of vocabulary and focusing on more precise collocations would enhance the quality of your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('rental homes does not allow'), article usage ('a home is basic necessity'), and awkward phrasing ('the topic whether it has positive or negative impacts'). While these errors do not significantly impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy, particularly with articles and pluralization, will be beneficial.
