Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: why home ownership is important and whether it is positive or negative. However, the development is uneven. While you provide several reasons for the importance of home ownership, such as financial stability and legal benefits, the arguments are somewhat repetitive and lack depth. The position is clear, but the structure is more of a list than a cohesive argument. To reach a higher band, ensure each paragraph explores a single idea in greater detail rather than providing a series of short, disconnected points. The conclusion is also missing, which is necessary to summarize your position effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. You use transition words like 'Second Reason' and 'Third Reason', which is a mechanical approach to cohesion. The flow between sentences is often disjointed, making it difficult for the reader to follow the development of your argument. Additionally, the final section is presented as a list of bullet points, which is inappropriate for an IELTS essay and negatively impacts the overall structure. Improving the use of linking phrases and ensuring each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it is quite repetitive. You frequently use basic terms like 'positive situation' and 'owning a home'. There is an attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary, such as 'installments', 'possession', and 'nationality', but the range is limited. Some word choices are slightly unnatural, such as 'doubled the monthly expenses' or 'official facilities'. To improve, try to incorporate more varied synonyms and precise collocations related to finance and housing to demonstrate a wider range of vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'People tries', 'who holds'), incorrect article usage, and awkward phrasing (e.g., 'as compare to those who lives'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with capitalization and comma usage. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to distract the reader. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement would help improve your accuracy.
