In some countries owning a home rather than renting one is very important for people. Why might this be the case? Do you think this is a positive or negative situation?
Student answer (Band 6.5)
In many countries, people think owning a home is much more important than renting one . Because it provides stability and security. It is a positive situation because it leads to a long term investment and create long term wealth.
However, some people think owning a property is important because it provides a sense of stability and security. In addition, many people see it as a long term investment because property rate often increases. The most important thing is that they can decorate or renovate their house without any restrictions whereas in rented house the is always dependency on owner for renovation. Also owning a property is always recognise in a social wealth.
In my point of view, it is a positive situation because it has lot of benefits .Homeownership can provide the financial security and there is no fear of eviction whereas in rented house there is always fear of eviction and uncertainty rent increases. It also provide stability for family especially children. It is also considered as long term investment and it creates a long term wealth which can be passed from generation to generation. It also encourages people to save money and build valuable assets for the future.
In conclusion, people would prefer to own a house rather than renting one house because it provides them security and stability, financial benefits and social recognition. In my opinion, it is a positive situation because it provides stability to family , financial independence and consider as long term prosperity.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: explaining why homeownership is important and providing an opinion on whether this is positive or negative. The ideas are relevant, covering financial security, autonomy, and social status. However, the development is somewhat repetitive; for instance, the point about 'long-term investment' and 'wealth' is mentioned in both the introduction and the body paragraphs. To reach a higher band, you should aim to expand on these points with more distinct examples or deeper analysis rather than restating the same concepts. The position is clear throughout the essay, but the overall structure lacks the depth required for a higher score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive. For example, the phrase 'It also' is used at the start of several consecutive sentences, which limits the flow of the text. While there is a clear progression of ideas, the transitions between sentences could be more varied to improve the overall readability. The paragraphing is appropriate, but the internal cohesion within paragraphs needs more sophisticated linking words to connect ideas more naturally.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express ideas clearly. There are some attempts at using topic-specific vocabulary, such as 'eviction', 'financial independence', and 'assets'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there are instances of awkward phrasing, such as 'recognise in a social wealth' and 'uncertainty rent increases'. To improve, you should focus on using more precise collocations and avoiding repetitive word choices. The vocabulary is sufficient to communicate the main points, but it lacks the flexibility and sophistication expected at higher bands.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'in rented house the is always dependency' and 'it has lot of benefits'. Subject-verb agreement and article usage are inconsistent throughout the text. While these errors do not significantly impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. To improve, you should focus on proofreading for basic errors like missing articles and pluralization, and work on integrating more complex sentence structures with greater accuracy.
