IELTS Writing Task 2 question
In some countries owning a home rather than renting one is very important for people. Why might this be the case? Do you think this is a positive or negative situation?
Student answer (Band 6.0)
In few nations owning a home rather than renting one is extremely crucial for individuals. In my opinion this is positive situation. my preference will be justified.
The primary reason to support my argument is that majority of individuals went to other country for higher education and work. As a result, they have been manage their overhead expances, Therefore they could not afford to owining a house, because it is to expensive as well as maintaining house become a havoc. Hence, it is vital to renting a house than owining. However, owining house need deposit and for additional funds manage with the finance. for instances, it is kind of sweet poision people tend to pay the principal as well as the intrest. Thus, it lead stress and other medical consequences.
On the other hand, It is affordable for those individuals who earn a good amount of money, so they owining their own house and it has several benefits like people can take collectrol loans with less intrest, also it is help to people earn money by renting their basement and it has several government provide subsidies in many other sectors. Furthermore, individuals had no worries to stay in their own house very long time. Apart from that, the valuation of property is increasing day by day so it is big investment for the people.
In conclusion, in my opinion renting a house become very beneficial for people also owining a house provide multiple benefits for the individuals. Although it is depend on the people they have to stay longer in the country or not.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for the importance of home ownership and an opinion on whether this is positive or negative. However, the development of ideas is inconsistent. The argument regarding the 'sweet poison' of mortgages is somewhat unclear, and the conclusion contradicts the earlier stance, as the writer initially claims ownership is positive but concludes that renting is 'very beneficial'. To improve, ensure your position is consistent throughout the essay and provide more logical, well-explained support for your arguments rather than listing points.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical flow is frequently interrupted by awkward transitions and unclear referencing. For example, the transition 'As a result, they have been manage their overhead expances' is grammatically disjointed, and the use of 'Therefore' and 'Hence' does not always logically connect the preceding ideas. While there is an attempt to use cohesive devices, they are often used mechanically or incorrectly. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety required for a higher band. There are several instances of incorrect word choice or collocation, such as 'collectrol loans' (collateral loans), 'sweet poision' (a metaphor that is not clearly explained in this context), and 'maintaining house become a havoc'. Spelling errors like 'expances', 'intrest', and 'owining' also occur frequently. To improve, focus on learning the correct spelling of common academic terms and practice using collocations in context rather than relying on informal or misused idioms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a high frequency of grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'it lead stress', 'it is help to people'), verb tense consistency, and sentence structure (e.g., 'they have been manage their overhead expances'). Complex sentence structures are attempted but are often faulty, leading to confusion. To reach a higher band, you need to focus on basic sentence construction, specifically ensuring that verbs are correctly conjugated and that prepositions and articles are used accurately. Proofreading for basic errors is essential.
