IELTS Writing Task 2 question

In some countries owning a home rather than renting one is very important for people. Why might this be the case? Do you think this is a positive or negative situation?

Student answer (Band 7.0)

In many countries, it is believed that owning a house is very important for people instead of living on rent. This is due to person's feels financial security, strong bonding with family and neighborhood. I think it is a positive approach if one's has their own house for personal financial stability and families are grown in a strong communities.

One of the main reason for owning a home can make financially stable. Unlike renting, where a large amount of money is gone to owners, it feel frustration all time that after paying money having no benefit. As a result, homeowners can build wealth and enjoy greater financial stability in the future. For example, many families purchase a house with a mortgage and eventually become full owners after completing the payments. If property prices rise, the value of their investment will also increase.

Another reason is that home ownership provides a sense of stability and belonging. People who own their homes are usually more willing to maintain their property and become involved in their local communities. This creates stronger neighbourhood relationships and a more secure environment for children. For instance, parents often prefer to buy a house so their children can remain in the same school and develop long-term friendships. If families have a permanent place to live, they are more likely to feel settled and plan confidently for the future.

In conclusion, people value home ownership because it offers financial security and a stable lifestyle. Although purchasing a house can be costly, I believe it is a positive situation as it encourages long-term investment, stronger communities, and a better quality of life.

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'financial stability,' 'mortgage,' and 'long-term investment.' There are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'it feel frustration all time' and 'families are grown in a strong communities.'
