IELTS Writing Task 2 question
In some countries owning a home rather than renting one is very important for people. Why might this be the case? Do you think this is a positive or negative situation?
Student answer (Band 5.0)
In some countries Owning a house is more imprtant than renting one is the point of discussion and In my Opinion it is a positive situation as having own house is really important in own country rather than rental one.
Every country has some policies for owning a house for yourself or any purpose .There is rules and regulations for the national ones and for the oversease accordingly.Rental houses has some limits and time durations for stay along specific rental amount which people must have to pay the owner at any condition on monthly or yearly plan.Own house need one time a large expence but life time security and residence.
when we'll think about the scenario of a person who is working in a country from a long time, get married, have a family then dafinaitly they need a house and rental one is not suitable because people want to decorate houses, want renovations and other modifications in houses.Owning a house as oversease is very dificult task but if you planned to do so need to struggle for it so there is rentaing a house for some time is considerable.
A peroson living in its own counrty and renting a house is not a favourable condition, rental problem incresing day by day, every year a markup will be added to the actual amount of rent , person is unablae to renovate the house because one day he have to leave it.After thinking about all these fact owning a house is a positive condition for secure future of fmaily.
As my own brother story relate to this situation my brother was not get married for a long time because people though if he is not having its own house than how he can manage other home responsibilities and they reject his porposal everytime. formthat i learned own house is important for every aspact of life.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: explaining why home ownership is important and providing an opinion on whether it is positive or negative. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention financial security and the ability to renovate, the arguments are repetitive and lack depth. For instance, the personal anecdote about your brother is relevant but occupies a significant portion of the essay without adding much analytical weight to the broader societal implications. To reach a higher band, ensure that each paragraph introduces a distinct, well-supported point rather than restating the same ideas about rent increases and renovation limitations.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical flow is often disrupted by awkward phrasing and a lack of cohesive devices. Transitions between sentences are frequently missing or mechanical, such as the abrupt start to the third paragraph ('when we'll think about the scenario...'). The use of referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the progression of your argument. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'consequently', 'furthermore', 'in contrast') to connect your ideas more fluidly and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety required for a higher score. There are frequent spelling errors (e.g., 'imprtant', 'oversease', 'dafinaitly', 'peroson', 'unablae', 'fmaily') and some awkward word choices, such as 'national ones' and 'positive condition'. While you attempt to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'renovations' and 'modifications', the overall range is limited. You should focus on learning the correct spelling of common words and expanding your repertoire of collocations to express your ideas more naturally and accurately.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a high frequency of grammatical errors, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('Rental houses has', 'Own house need'), article usage ('having own house'), and sentence structure. Many sentences are run-on or fragmented, which hinders readability. While there is an attempt to use complex structures, these are often faulty, leading to confusion. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically ensuring that subjects and verbs agree and that punctuation is used correctly to separate independent clauses. Reducing the number of errors is essential for clarity.
