IELTS Writing Task 2 question
In some countries owning a home rather than renting one is very important for people. Why might this be the case? Do you think this is a positive or negative situation?
Student answer (Band 5.0)
Nowadays, renting a home is popular things in many countries because people has no enough amount to buy home then they renting a home but in many places people prefer to buy home than renting one. i will give you both opinion on that.
To begin with a renting a home , there are many reasons that causa people are renting a home than buying. i will give you some reasons. first of all people renting a home because they have no money to buy house and WHEN A Person go to another city for his personal work or duties then he prefer to renting a home instead of buying home.
for example: one of my class fellow Ali said to me that He go with his father in another city for his father work, he said they rent a home for two months because his father work only for two months, they rent and live in house for two months he said the house was very good and the fair was very low and in this way renting house is good thing.
on other side, when a family shift in another city ,they prefer to buy a house because they live in there for a long time not two to three months than they buy house and renowaite it with there own mind and it is budget full to buy house then renting for many years.
in conclusion , both ways are good in thier own path and mindset

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by discussing reasons for renting and buying, but the development is quite limited. While you identify reasons such as financial constraints and temporary work, the explanation is repetitive and lacks depth. The second part of the prompt—your opinion on whether this is a positive or negative situation—is not clearly addressed. You conclude by stating both ways are 'good,' but you do not provide a reasoned argument or analysis of the social or economic implications. To improve, ensure you explicitly state your position in the introduction and provide balanced, well-developed arguments for why you consider the situation positive or negative.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the progression of ideas is often disjointed. You rely on very basic linking words like 'first of all' and 'in conclusion,' and some transitions are missing or awkward, such as 'on other side.' The referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow your logic. To improve, use a wider variety of cohesive devices (e.g., 'furthermore,' 'consequently,' 'in contrast') and ensure that each paragraph focuses on a single, clear main idea that supports your overall position.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is quite basic and repetitive. You frequently use the same words, such as 'home,' 'house,' 'renting,' and 'buying.' There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'popular things' instead of 'a popular choice' and 'budget full' which is not standard English. Spelling errors like 'renowaite' (renovate) and 'causa' (cause) also detract from the quality of the writing. To reach a higher band, focus on learning topic-specific vocabulary related to housing and finance, and practice using synonyms to avoid repetition.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'people has no enough amount'), article usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are simple or run-on, lacking the complexity required for higher bands. For example, 'one of my class fellow Ali said to me that He go with his father' contains multiple errors in tense and structure. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and the correct use of tenses before attempting more complex structures.
