Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for home ownership and the opinion on whether it is a positive or negative development. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the explanation of financial security is repetitive, and the examples provided (e.g., 'Canadian people') are generic and lack depth. While the position is clear, the arguments could be more thoroughly extended to reach a higher band. The response covers all requirements but remains at a basic level of analysis.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas from the reasons for ownership to the evaluation of the situation. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Commencing with', 'Moreover', and 'In conclusion', although some are used mechanically or slightly incorrectly (e.g., 'Another optimistic is that'). Referencing is generally clear, but the flow between sentences is occasionally hindered by grammatical errors, which makes the text feel slightly disjointed in places.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. There is a reliance on simple, repetitive phrasing such as 'purchasing their own home' and 'financial security'. Some word choices are awkward or incorrect, such as 'live lone time' instead of 'live long-term' and 'landowner permissions' instead of 'landlord permission'. To improve, you should focus on using more sophisticated collocations and synonyms to avoid repetition and demonstrate a wider range of vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Issues include missing articles ('in some nation'), subject-verb agreement errors ('people buying their own home' instead of 'people buy'), and awkward phrasing ('They do not for every change in their for landowner permissions'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to lower the score. More attention to basic sentence construction and proofreading for missing words is necessary.
