Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: why home ownership is important and whether it is positive or negative. However, the development of ideas is limited and repetitive. The arguments regarding financial stability and the flexibility of renting are mentioned but lack depth or clear logical progression. The conclusion contradicts the earlier stance, as the writer initially argues that owning a home is positive, but the conclusion suggests that paying rent is positive. This inconsistency makes the overall position unclear. To improve, ensure each paragraph focuses on a single, well-supported idea and maintain a consistent argument throughout the essay.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the internal structure is weak. There is a lack of logical flow between sentences, and the use of cohesive devices is repetitive and often misused (e.g., 'on the other hand' is used incorrectly to introduce simple additions rather than contrasts). Referencing is frequently unclear, particularly with the use of pronouns like 'he' and 'it,' which often lack a clear antecedent. The progression of ideas is disjointed, making it difficult for the reader to follow the writer's train of thought. More varied linking words and clearer paragraph transitions are needed to improve coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is basic and repetitive, relying heavily on simple terms like 'home,' 'money,' and 'people.' There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'house holder' instead of 'landlord' and 'staying on it' instead of 'living in it.' Spelling errors, such as 'benifits,' 'finacial,' 'piecefull,' and 'conculotion,' are noticeable. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to express complex ideas effectively. To reach a higher band, you should focus on learning topic-specific collocations related to housing and finance and ensure you are using words in their correct context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5

The essay consists primarily of simple sentences with frequent grammatical errors that often impede communication. There are persistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'every people own,' 'he was stay'), tense consistency, and article usage. Complex sentence structures are attempted but are almost always faulty, leading to confusion. For example, the sentence 'in many countries individuals did not have home so he was staying at the place and paying rent to home owner' contains multiple errors in structure and agreement. A focus on mastering basic sentence construction and subject-verb agreement is essential before attempting more complex structures.
