Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing why home ownership is important and whether it is positive or negative. However, the development of ideas is limited and often unclear. For instance, the argument regarding 'stress' and 'free of mind' is underdeveloped, and the points about renting are somewhat contradictory. The position is not clearly maintained throughout the essay, as the introduction states 'both are positive or negative,' which is confusing. To improve, you should focus on clearly stating your position in the introduction and ensuring each paragraph contains a single, well-explained main idea supported by relevant examples.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression of ideas is frequently disrupted by unclear phrasing and awkward transitions. While cohesive devices like 'firstly,' 'secondly,' and 'on the other hand' are used, they are often placed incorrectly or do not logically connect the sentences that follow. Referencing is also problematic; for example, the phrase 'various good affects to the people' is vague and does not clearly link back to the previous point. To improve, focus on using cohesive devices to link ideas within sentences rather than just starting paragraphs with them, and ensure that each sentence follows logically from the one before it.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive, often relying on basic words like 'good,' 'important,' and 'people.' There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'owing a house' (should be 'owning'), 'positive affects' (should be 'effects'), and 'achieve our house' (should be 'afford a house'). These errors occasionally make it difficult for the reader to grasp the intended meaning. To improve, you should practice using more precise vocabulary related to housing and finance, and pay closer attention to word forms and common collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay relies heavily on simple sentence structures, and there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Common issues include missing articles, incorrect verb forms, and subject-verb agreement errors (e.g., 'individual not feel stress,' 'people not proper manage'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with spaces placed incorrectly before commas and periods. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors causes some difficulty for the reader. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically ensuring that every sentence has a clear subject and a correctly conjugated verb.
