Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, identifying reasons for home ownership and providing a clear opinion on whether it is a positive or negative situation. The ideas are relevant, such as financial stability and social status, and the negative impact of debt is also explored. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited; for instance, the explanation of how home ownership benefits children's education could be more specific. The position is consistent throughout, though the conclusion is slightly repetitive. To reach a higher band, ensure that each point is fully extended with more detailed examples or logical consequences.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'In addition', and 'For instance' are used to link ideas. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical, and there are instances where the flow is interrupted by awkward phrasing or punctuation errors, such as the unnecessary commas after 'reason is that ,' and 'societies ,'. Paragraphing is used appropriately, but the transition between the positive and negative aspects could be smoother to improve the overall progression of the argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to convey their meaning clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'contemporary world' and 'financial stability'. However, there are several errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'owing a apartment' (should be 'owning an apartment') and 'it have a greater benefits' (should be 'it has greater benefits'). The repetition of basic words like 'house' and 'stability' suggests a limited range. To improve, focus on using more precise synonyms and ensuring correct word forms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the reader. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('owing a apartment is become', 'it have a greater benefits'), article usage, and incorrect verb forms ('will not forced to move'). While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement would significantly improve the accuracy of the writing.
