Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response is significantly under the required word count of 250 words, reaching only 77 words. Consequently, the task is not fully addressed, and the ideas are not developed. The essay stops abruptly after the introduction and the start of the first body paragraph, meaning the prompt's questions regarding the reasons for home ownership and the evaluation of whether this is positive or negative remain largely unanswered. To improve, you must ensure you provide a full response that explores all parts of the prompt with sufficient supporting detail and examples.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The text is too brief to demonstrate a clear logical progression or effective paragraphing. While there is an attempt to use cohesive devices such as 'To commence with' and 'In this regard', the abrupt ending prevents the development of a coherent argument. The structure is currently limited to an introduction and a fragmented opening to a body paragraph, which does not allow for a proper assessment of your ability to organize ideas or use linking words effectively across a full essay.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.5
The vocabulary used is basic and contains errors that hinder clarity, such as 'by rented house' instead of 'by renting a house' and 'save their lot money' instead of 'save a lot of money'. The range of vocabulary is very limited, and the phrasing is often unnatural. To reach a higher band, you need to expand your range of vocabulary to include more precise, academic terms and ensure that your word choices are grammatically accurate in context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5
There are several grammatical errors in the short text provided, such as 'some people believes' (subject-verb agreement error) and 'This essay will be outlined' (incorrect passive voice usage). The sentence structures are simple and contain errors that affect the flow of the writing. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and the correct use of verb tenses. You should also practice constructing more complex sentences while ensuring they remain grammatically accurate.
