In some countries owning a home rather than renting one is very important for people. Why might this be the case? Do you think this is a positive or negative situation?
Student answer (Band 5.0)
There are many countries owning a home rather than renting one is very important for people. i believe this is a positive situation.
Firstly, Most of all peoples visit the different countries and around the 5 days are stay this place, and some people rent a home 5 days but most home is different but people chose the home is good and comftable some time is very expensive home so people is stay home is easily , the renting home is very better and significant in people.
Secondly, The most people is owning a home different countries as he visit the countries and stay this place and no any problem, mostly people 3 and 4 weeks stay then he go to own countries, i prefer rent is home a better than owning a home such as a low budget for stay some people wish the buying a home different such as some he going to move other country and he will stayed. but most of all people is poor he did not afford the payment in renting a home is very expensive so he difficult problem is face, some time rich people is arrive the other country and did not any problem face beacuse the mostly people bussinuss man visit and move other countries, i think this is a positive situation for every people.
In conclusion, i prefer a renting home is rather than owning a home beacuse i think move and visit countries rich and bussinuss man so he is so rich and rent a home is better.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt but struggles with clarity and logical development. While you identify that you believe the situation is positive, the reasoning provided is difficult to follow. You attempt to explain why owning a home is important and why renting might be better, but the arguments are disjointed and lack depth. The connection between 'visiting countries' and the importance of home ownership is not clearly established, making it difficult for the reader to understand your position. To improve, ensure each paragraph focuses on a single, well-supported idea that directly answers the 'why' and 'positive/negative' aspects of the prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay uses basic cohesive devices like 'Firstly' and 'Secondly', but these are often used mechanically and do not effectively link ideas. The progression of thought is frequently interrupted by unclear sentences, such as the transition between discussing home ownership and the financial struggles of renting. Paragraphing is present, but the internal structure of the paragraphs is weak, with sentences often lacking a clear logical flow. Referencing is also problematic; for example, the use of 'he' to refer to 'people' is inconsistent and confusing. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each sentence builds upon the previous one will help improve the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, often relying on basic words like 'good', 'better', 'rich', and 'poor'. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'most of all peoples' instead of 'most people' and 'did not any problem face' instead of 'did not face any problems'. These errors occasionally impede communication, as the reader must work to interpret your intended meaning. To reach a higher band, you should focus on using more precise vocabulary related to housing and economics, and work on using words in their correct grammatical context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that affect readability. There are issues with subject-verb agreement ('most people is owning'), article usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are run-on or fragmented, making the text difficult to parse. For instance, 'some time rich people is arrive the other country and did not any problem face' contains multiple errors in tense, word order, and structure. While you attempt some complex ideas, the lack of control over basic grammar prevents these from being expressed clearly. Focusing on sentence construction and proofreading for basic errors will significantly improve your score.
