Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: explaining why home ownership is important and providing an opinion on whether this is positive or negative. However, the development of ideas is limited. While you mention financial stability and social status, the arguments are somewhat repetitive and rely on generalizations, such as the claim that all renters are 'depressed.' To improve, you should provide more nuanced analysis and ensure your supporting examples are more clearly linked to the main points. The position is clear, but the depth of the argument needs to be increased to reach a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For example, phrases like 'On the one hand' and 'On the Other hand' are used, but the internal flow of sentences is frequently disrupted by grammatical errors. Referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the sentence 'People trust him the person that having his own house,' where the pronoun usage is confusing. Improving the transition between sentences and ensuring that ideas flow logically within paragraphs will significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally basic and repetitive. You use words like 'house,' 'rent,' and 'people' frequently. There are also several instances of incorrect word choice or awkward phrasing, such as 'disarrangement of the house' and 'job person.' To improve, you should aim to use a wider range of vocabulary related to the topic, such as 'financial security,' 'property investment,' 'landlord-tenant disputes,' or 'psychological well-being.' Additionally, focus on using collocations correctly to ensure your writing sounds more natural and precise.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the essay that occasionally impede communication. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'people having rent home, they always looking'), missing articles, and incorrect sentence structures (e.g., 'how much its significant for individuals owner of a house'). The range of structures is limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences. To improve, you need to focus on basic sentence construction, including correct verb tenses and the use of articles. Attempting more complex sentence structures only after mastering basic accuracy will help you achieve a higher score.
