Student answer (Band 6.0)

Nowadays ,it's a dream for many people to have there own house . But it's not possible for everyone to have it so they live in a rented house . Some people think that owning a house is better than living in a rented house .

Starting with the people who think that owning a house is better which is true because we can do whatever we like in our house . In rented house there are so many restrictions . Moving forward , owning a house make you feel like you have achieved something in like. Moreover , people think in such a way because as per there mind set they can have more privacy and security at there own house . There are high risk of security failure in rented houses . In addition , in rented houses we are dependant on landlord and their is no stability . To add more , we might have to shift our house in short term due to any reason that to without our concern . For example , if a landlord find another client who will pay higher rent than he/she will give you a notice to empty there house in a month .

Furthermore , one question arrive in our mind that " Is privacy and stability the only advantage of owning house?" . The answer to that is 'No' . There are more positive impact of owning a house which are , first is we can earn profit from it . For example , we can give our house on rent and can earn a lot of money . Secondly , the rate of a house never falls it only increases which means it's a investment which will get high day by day . Thirdly , we can pass the house to our future generation so that there future get's secure . There are many other points which proves that owning a house is way better than renting it . Lastly , we can invest the money in a house rather than paying in rents.

To conclude, every person have there own opinion. Some people are there who does'nt even afford a rent , so its upon people's income . And as a great man have said that ' Money can't buy everything.'

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for the importance of home ownership and an opinion on whether this is positive or negative. However, the development is somewhat uneven. While you provide several reasons for ownership (privacy, security, investment), the discussion on whether this is a positive or negative situation is less balanced. You touch upon the financial aspect but do not fully explore the potential negative implications of a societal obsession with home ownership, such as reduced labor mobility or the burden of debt. The conclusion is a bit abrupt and does not clearly summarize your stance on the 'positive or negative' aspect of the prompt.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use some cohesive devices like 'Starting with', 'Moreover', 'In addition', and 'Furthermore'. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly unnatural. For instance, 'Moving forward' is used in a way that does not quite fit the context of the argument. Additionally, referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the use of 'there' instead of 'their' throughout the text, which disrupts the flow. The logical progression within paragraphs is generally clear, but the transition between the reasons for ownership and the evaluation of the situation could be smoother.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You have an adequate range of vocabulary to convey your ideas, such as 'restrictions', 'stability', 'investment', and 'generation'. However, there are frequent errors in word choice and spelling that occasionally impede the reader. For example, you consistently confuse 'there' with 'their', and 'there' with 'their' or 'they are'. You also use 'client' when referring to a tenant, which is not the most precise collocation. To reach a higher band, you should focus on using less common vocabulary more accurately and ensuring that basic spelling and homophone usage are correct.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'owning a house make you feel', 'one question arrive'), incorrect pronoun usage ('there' instead of 'their'), and missing articles or incorrect prepositions. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with spacing around commas and the use of quotation marks. While these errors do not completely prevent the reader from understanding your message, they are frequent enough to lower the score. You should focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy, especially regarding subject-verb agreement and possessive pronouns.
