Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for home ownership and the writer's opinion on whether it is positive. However, the development of ideas is limited. The explanation for why people buy homes is somewhat repetitive, focusing primarily on rising costs without exploring other factors like stability or investment potential. The opinion that it is a 'positive situation' is stated but lacks depth in its justification. To improve, you should provide more specific examples or nuanced arguments, such as the psychological benefits of ownership or the long-term financial security it provides, rather than repeating the same point about rent costs.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For example, 'In the further paragraphs' is an unnatural way to introduce an essay, and 'That is the cause, why' is grammatically awkward and disrupts the flow. While there is a logical progression from the reasons to the conclusion, the transitions between sentences are sometimes abrupt. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'consequently', 'furthermore', 'in contrast') and ensure that referencing (e.g., 'this', 'these') clearly points back to the intended ideas.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on simple, repetitive phrasing such as 'very important thing', 'good sign', and 'basic need'. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'invest the money... in any thing where they feel trustful' and 'spend their life more advance'. To achieve a higher score, try to incorporate more sophisticated vocabulary related to the topic, such as 'financial stability', 'property ladder', 'long-term investment', or 'exorbitant rental costs', and ensure that words are used in their correct collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('people are owning', 'they can't need to give rent'), article usage, and sentence fragments ('That is the cause, why people buying their own home'). Punctuation is also inconsistent. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. Focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically ensuring that every sentence has a clear subject and a correctly conjugated verb.
