Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for home ownership and an opinion on whether it is positive or negative. However, the development is somewhat superficial. While you mention financial security as a reason for buying, the discussion on whether this is positive or negative is underdeveloped. You state that 'both of the opinions are right,' but you do not clearly argue for or against the situation as requested. To reach a higher band, you should provide a more balanced and nuanced evaluation of the social or economic implications of home ownership versus renting, rather than simply describing the two groups.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the flow between ideas is often mechanical. Phrases like 'Come up with the idea of buying homes' are not natural cohesive devices. Additionally, some transitions are abrupt, and the logical progression within paragraphs is hindered by repetitive phrasing. The use of referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult to track the subjects of your sentences. Improving the use of linking words such as 'furthermore,' 'consequently,' or 'in contrast' would significantly enhance the logical flow of your arguments.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety required for higher bands. You rely on repetitive and sometimes imprecise phrasing, such as 'life's chaos,' 'regular mess of life,' and 'shopping apartment.' There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'shopping apartment' instead of 'purchasing a property' or 'buying a home.' While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of sophisticated vocabulary and the presence of errors in word formation limit the score. Expanding your range of topic-specific vocabulary would be beneficial.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text that occasionally impede the reader's understanding. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('Many people shows,' 'some people goes,' 'Individual wants') and incorrect verb forms ('do not wanted to pay'). The sentence structures are mostly simple or contain errors when you attempt more complex constructions. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring that verb tenses are used consistently throughout your writing. A greater variety of error-free complex sentences is needed for a higher band.
