Student answer (Band 5.5)
It is considered that nowadays, in some nations having own home is more significant as compared to live on rent for people. I believe that this is a positive trend, and i will explain my views in the upcoming paragraphs.
To commence with the view point of constructive development, firstly having own home give sense of freedom. In other words, people who have their own living house does not worry about accommodation they saves huge expenses which are spent on living. For example, a survey conducted by World Housing Board that people who have own home for living saves 68% of their total life earning. As a result, the amount saved from living expense can be utilized on other things.
Secondly, having own home is a great advantage it creates generational wealth . To elaborate it, while using own house for rental purpose create source of income while giving rooms for rent to people who are in need. Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: why home ownership is important and whether it is a positive or negative trend. However, the essay is significantly under the 250-word minimum, which limits the depth of development. While the ideas regarding financial independence and generational wealth are relevant, they are presented in a somewhat superficial manner. The conclusion is also quite brief and does not fully synthesize the arguments presented. To improve, you should expand on your examples and provide more detailed explanations for your points to meet the length requirement and demonstrate a more thorough exploration of the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear attempt to use transition signals such as 'To commence with', 'Secondly', and 'In conclusion'. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'To commence with the view point of constructive development'. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. While the overall arrangement is coherent, the limited length prevents a more sophisticated progression of ideas. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring they are used naturally will help elevate your score in this criterion.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There are some repetitive phrases, such as 'having own home' and 'living house'. Some word choices are slightly unnatural, such as 'constructive development' in this context. While the meaning is clear, the range of vocabulary is limited, and there is little evidence of less common lexical items or idiomatic collocations. To improve, focus on learning topic-specific vocabulary related to finance and housing, and practice using synonyms to avoid repetition.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Examples include missing articles ('having own home', 'as compared to live on rent'), subject-verb agreement issues ('people who have their own living house does not worry'), and awkward phrasing ('it can not be forgot'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are persistent and affect the overall fluency of the writing. You should focus on mastering basic sentence construction, particularly article usage and verb agreement, before attempting more complex structures.
